While taking the opportunity to visit our local food industries take time to see what else we have to offer. Katikati, also known as New Zealand’s Mural Town, started with just three murals through town in 1991 and now boasts over 46 works of art depicting the community’s history and culture.
Unique to Katikati is the Haiku Pathway, a walk about 2 kms long. It winds its way along the Uretara River, the paths leading past boulders engraved with Haiku, a short poem (usually about nature) written by poets from around the world.
Don’t miss the Katikati Plant & Produce Market on Fridays when you are here. There is normally enough fruit, veges, meat, preserves and more to keep you stocked for at least the week ahead.
Katikati is not just a place to visit – it’s a destination to be savoured.
